There is something special about The Open Championship even more so when it is played on the St Andrews Old Course.
ZachZach Johnson was a worthy winner of the "Auld Mug" and title of "Champion Golfer of the Year"
It was a fitting end to a great week of golf with the best three golfers of the week dukeing it out in a 4 hole playoff.
Marc Leishman the unasuming "Aussie" played so well throughout the whole day, barring a bogey on the 16th hole the easier of the last three holes he could have been crowned champion without the effort of the playoff.
Louis Oosthuizen exceptionally flawless in his play holing a great par save putt on 17 and the birdie on 18 to get into the playoff.
Zach Johnson would hold his nerve in the playoff and triumph on the day, unfortunately for Jordan Spieth he will have to try next year for the slam.
And to our own kiwis Danny Lee and Ryan Fox for making the open field well done hopefully we will see more of Ryan on the big stage in years to come.
Congratulations to our sweepstake winners.
